To be honest, this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Maybe as a therapeutic way of blowing off steam, as a way to share with the world what I’m up to or thinking (whether it cares or not), making some kind of change in someone’s thoughts, make someone smile or think, that’s so true…I’m not sure, probably a mixture of all of the above. But whatever reason I’m writing for and whatever I write about, I want to be one thing for sure and that is Honest.
Honest writing is much easier said than done (if you would excuse my use of a cliché) and I honestly have no clue what to write about. But at some points in your life, you just need a cathartic approach to well, life. It’s really not important to anyone out there and I promise I’m not using this blog as a way to vent about the myriad things that are going wrong and not according to plan (or I hope not to).
In preparation to anyone who might like to follow this in the future, I’m a list-maker. I make lists of thing to buy (grocery shopping or normal shopping), things to do around the house, things to do for university, things to do for my society events, lists of things to pack for a holiday a month in advance and lists of my various lists.
- Babies, toddlers, children up to age 4: I’m no biological bomb ticking away but only a child can make me smile no matter what kind of mood I’m in. I’m not immune to their incessant chatter and temper-tantrums on the bus but usually we get along marvelously.
- Learning a new word: Has anyone noticed how you ask someone or Google what a word means and then, you see it constantly, everywhere and all the time! I love that feeling because it always reminds you that among all these words, there’s definitely another one out there that I do not know and will soon know.
- Getting in touch with an old FRIEND: Friend being the key word here, frenemies do not count! Just a thoughtful message from an old friend whom you haven’t talked to in a while (not because it’s your birthday and they saw on FB)
- A new recipe to try: Obviously, this does not apply to everyone…but I love cooking and more importantly, entertaining so I love to find a new recipe with hopefully, an unexpected ingredient or surprising method of cooking…give me a new banoffee pie recipe and I’m Sorted!
- Seeing a street artist: Whether a breakdancer, a little girl with a microphone (who has a sense of melody) or a painter with the ground as his canvas, watching a person standing in the freezing cold and windy UK showcasing their talents all day makes me have hope that creativity is never dead. (Woah, what a strange comment but well, it makes me smile and darn it, I’m allowed a few clichés for my first blogpost!)
Hopefully I haven’t scared you all off but this blog is about a 20 year old girl who doesn’t have a sense of direction right now so instead of being depressed about it, I’m going to find something to do that makes me smile (and hopefully some others as well).
